| The
Worshipful Company of Salters, one of the twelve Great City
Livery Companies, originated in fourteenth century London.
For a number of years, Dominion has worked with the Salters’
to develop a series of websites for all aspects of their
company and organisation.
The purpose of the most recent redevelopment of the
Salters’ family of sites was threefold. First, various
design elements in each section needed to be updated. Second,
an effort was made to unify the divergent site styles with
a series of links on the left-hand side of each page so
as to enable quick and easy navigation between the sites
themselves. Third, more emphasis was to be placed on promotion
of the Salters’ sponsorship programs.

The
Salters’ Festivals of Chemistry website was updated
to include a wider variety of content promoting the Salters’
festivals. The site is built around a viewing system for
various event photos, and more effort has been made to promote
sponsorship. An online application form is also available
alongside event and programme information.
Similarly, the Chemistry Camps site has been redesigned
with a wider range of information and features, including
event pictures, sponsorship content, application forms,
and event information. A more attractive user interface
has been implemented as well.
The purpose of the Chemistry Club site is to entertain a
predominantly young audience of ten- and eleven-year-old
school children – this update was thus in a similar
colourful style to the previous site. Competitions and projects
are offered to challenge the skills and knowledge of young
people with an interest in chemistry.
The Institute site remains the hub of all of the Salters’
youth-orientated sites, with a cleaner interface and additional
content. A good deal of space has been devoted to promoting
the Salters’ sponsorship program. Finally, a left-hand
side navigation panel has been added to the Salters’
company site. |
