Dominion and Colne Housing: Meeting Dual Objectives
Colne Housing

With the Colne Housing site, Dominion’s primary challenge was to create an online hub of information that would target two distinct user groups. The first group would be made up of local authorities, governments and potential partners who seek information on Colne Housing itself and the second group would consist of the many tenants who benefit from the Society’s resources.

In other words, content for two separate websites needed to be merged into a single entity using clear access points.

The main navigation menu provides potential partners and any other users with full access to company information, including news. All of this can be kept up to date efficiently and effectively with a user-friendly content management system.

The Tenants Information Section is easily accessible with a single click in a highly visible top-right location. Upon entry to this section the right-hand menu is replaced with a visibly different colour-coded menu – this allows the user to access various services and tenancy-related information.

In addition, tenants can request repairs and download a range of application forms. As with the main site section, all information can be modified or amended using the CMS.

The scrolling image thumbnail feature on the homepage is intended not only to show Colne Housing in action in the community, but also to emphasise some of the Society’s successes. This is illustrated through a series of snapshots, which can be enlarged with a single click. Images are used in this way throughout the site.

Colne Housing Finance Director Lynne Shea enthused: ‘Throughout the project, Dominion provided an excellent service from design through to the launch of the website. The final product exceeded all expectations whilst maintaining the Society’s corporate look and image.’

Shea added: ‘All objectives were met – including cost and timescales.’

Dominion has designed this site as a foundation for future development and will continue working with Colne Housing to refine their online content and services with a careful and constant evaluation of user needs. ‘We look forward to working with Dominion in the next phase of development and would not hesitate in recommending them to others,’ Shea concluded.
