In the construction of this online information source,
the Worshipful Company of the Armourers and Brasiers aspires
not only to provide information about the Company’s
historical significance, charitable activity and support
of Material Science education, but also to promote their
Banquet and Conference Facilities and to communicate with
their members.
The secure, database-driven Members’ Area of the
site is identified by a tasteful yet striking shift in the
colour scheme, and it offers logged in members the ability
to view events, member details and news articles, as well
as to download printable PDF versions of the Company’s
newsletters. This section is fully searchable, and is easily
controlled, updated, managed and expanded via the online
administration area.
The Armourers' Company was founded in 1322 and has occupied
the same site in the City of London since 1346. Joining
with the Brasiers (workers in copper and brass) in 1708,
the Company is now one of the leading charities in the UK
supporting metallurgy and materials science education from
primary school to postgraduate levels.
