Chemistry Camps and Club sites latest in redevelopment of Salters’ Institute online

Chemistry Club website

Dominion has launched two new websites for the Salters’ Institute: the Salters’ Chemistry Camps and the Salters’ Chemistry Club.

The aim of the Chemistry Camps is to generate an interest in chemistry amongst young people. The events allow them to explore the fun of chemistry and, ideally, to motivate them into pursuing a long-term interest in the subject and its real-world applications. The Camps site offers basic event information and an image gallery, but there is a great deal of practical information on the camps as well as online application forms for nominating students, hosting an event, and sponsorship opportunities.

Promotion of sponsorship was given extra focus, and additional iconic links were worked into each page in order to maintain consistency and ease of navigation across the Institute’s family of sites.

In a slight contrast, the Chemistry Club site was geared specifically towards ten- and eleven-year-old school children and as such was redesigned in a more colourful style while maintaining the consistent iconic navigation from the other Institute sites, as well as a stronger push towards generating and promoting sponsorship.

A range of entertainment for the younger target audience is on offer throughout the Club site, including skill- and knowledge-testing competitions and projects with an aim to promote an enjoyment of chemistry.

The Camps and Club sites were part of a major redevelopment of the Salters’ Institute family of sites, which includes the Festivals of Chemistry site – launched in late 2003 – and the Institute site itself, the hub of all the Salters’ youth-orientated online content.

The Worshipful Company of Salters, one of the twelve Great City Livery Companies, originated in fourteenth century London. For a number of years, Dominion has worked alongside the Salters’ to develop a series of Web sites for all aspects of their company and organisation.
